Cruising Together: Why Group Travel Makes Waves

There’s something special about cruising with a group and after our recent adventure aboard Royal Caribbean’s Utopia, the third largest cruise ship in the world, we can say with confidence: it’s a game-changer.
More than twenty travelers joined us as part of our Wave Ryders group for a four-night escape to the Bahamas. A few were first time cruisers and for them especially, it was clear traveling together took the experience to a whole new level.
Here are 4 compelling reasons to travel as a group on a cruise, whether you're cruising with friends, family, co-workers, or a travel club:
Shared moments create stronger bonds. From sunsets on the deck to themed parties and shore excursions, group cruising encourages togetherness. You can relax by the pool, catch a show, or sip cocktails together, with no pressure to plan every moment.
There's something for everyone. From kids’ clubs to comedy shows, spa days to water slides, cruise ships cater to all ages and interests. Want to explore the island with your group or take a solo stroll on the beach? You could do both.
You'll have a built in support system. Forget your sunscreen? Need help navigating the ship? Your group has your back. One of the guests in our group aboard the Utopia deemed himself the ship's “navigator” as he had figured out the ship's layout before even boarding.
It's easier to try new things. Whether it's zip-lining over a ship deck or trying escargot for the first time, stepping outside your comfort zone is easier with encouragement from your fellow travelers.

Booking and traveling as a group can come with some unexpected perks, too, such as priority reservations or coordinated excursions. Whether you're a seasoned cruiser or thinking about your first voyage, consider bringing your friends, your family, or just your fun-loving travel crew. Because when you cruise together, the memories multiply and so does the fun.
